DPW to Host In-Person Community Meeting at the War Memorial

DPW will host an in-person community meeting on Wednesday, January 15, at the War Memorial Building at 101 N. Gay Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 (Lower Level), beginning at 6:00 PM. This event is the third in a series of community meetings designed to allow residents to provide feedback on the proposed water rate adjustments.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is working diligently to address outstanding trash and recycling collections impacted by this week’s snowstorm. Some residential alleys remain covered in ice, making them impassable and unsafe for solid waste crews.

As they continue to navigate inclement weather conditions, DPW emphasizes that the safety of our workers is paramount. Crews have been advised to report icy alleys to their supervisors, as they continue to navigate inclement conditions. DPW crews are keeping track of reported locations and coordinating with salt trucks to address icy conditions

Baltimore City DPW Announces Service Changes Following Snowstorm: Tuesday Trash/Recycling Collections Postponed Mechanical Street Sweeping Suspended Until Further Notice

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) announces service changes due to the lingering effects of Monday’s snowstorm. Trash and recycling collections will be postponed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, due to inclement weather and ongoing low temperatures. Rather than Tuesday’s collection being postponed until Saturday, Tuesday’s collection will resume on Wednesday, January 8. 

DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed January 6 Due to Approaching Winter Storm Mechanical Street Sweeping Suspended Until Further Notice

In response to the severe winter storm forecast for the region, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will close its offices and sanitation yards on Monday, January 6, 2025. This announcement follows today’s decision by Mayor Brandon M. Scott to close Baltimore City Government due to the impending weather conditions. Mechanical street sweeping operations will be suspended until further notice.

DPW to Host Annual Public Meeting on Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree: Date: Thursday, January 30, 2025 | Time: 6:00 PM

 DPW will hold its annual public meeting on Thursday, January 30, 2025, to provide updates on the Sanitary Sewer Modified Consent Decree (MCD). This meeting will focus on the progress made over the past year as part of the City of Baltimore’s commitment to addressing overflows in the sanitary sewer system. 

The public meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at Cylburn Arboretum Volmer Center, 4915 Greenspring Avenue, Baltimore, Md.

DPW Announces Holiday Service Updates for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

DPW  has updated its holiday service schedule following Mayor Brandon M. Scott’s announcement that Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, 2024, will be observed as a City holiday. In alignment with this declaration, DPW will suspend street sweeping services and close its collection drop-off centers on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, trash and recycling collections will take place on their regular schedules. All DPW offices, sanitation yards, and drop-off centers will be closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2024. There will be no trash or recycling collections on this day, and street sweeping will not be conducted. Trash/Recycling Makeup Day for the Christmas Day Closure: Saturday, December 28.
