DPW to Close Reedbird Residential Recycling Center May 17 to Prepare for Start of Facility Modernization Project

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will close the Residential Recycling Drop-off Center at the Reedbird Sanitation Facility starting Saturday, May 17, 2025, as the City of Baltimore prepares to start a multi-year modernization project at this location.

Voluntary Water Restrictions Issued for Baltimore Region Amid Critically Low Reservoir Levels

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), in coordination with Baltimore County, Harford County, Howard County, and Carroll County, has issued a voluntary water restriction due to historically low levels at Liberty Reservoir—one of the region’s primary drinking water sources—which has dropped to its lowest point in nearly two decades.

DPW Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Good Friday, April 18, 2025, is a City holiday, and DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. There will be NO trash or recycling collections on Good Friday. Trash and recycling collections, normally scheduled for Friday, April 18, will be collected on the make-up day, Saturday, April 19.
