DPW Offices and Sanitation Yards Closed in Observance of Indigenous Peoples Day, Monday, October 13

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that Monday, October 13, 2025, is Indigenous Peoples Day, a City holiday. In observance of the holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be closed and will reopen on Tuesday, October 14. The Indigenous Peoples Day closure will NOT impact weekly trash and recycling collections, as Monday is not a regularly scheduled curbside collection day. Mechanical street sweeping will be suspended on the holiday.

Baltimore City Board of Estimates Approves First Landfill Tipping Fee Increase in 32 Years

The Baltimore City Board of Estimates (BOE), during its meeting on October 1, 2025, approved an increase to the City’s landfill tipping fee for the first time since 1993. The new  rate will begin November 1, 2025,  rising from $60 per ton to $127.50 per ton, plus the existing $7.50 disposal fee, bringing the total cost to $135 per ton.  Currently, the total tipping fee is $67.50, which reflects the $7.50 disposal fee in addition to the $60 base rate.
