Baltimore City DPW provides clean, safe, reliable water to Baltimore City residents and is consistently known among the best localities in the nation for water taste and purity.  The City performs 150,000 water quality tests annually and produces an average of 205 million gallons of drinking water daily.

To maintain the financial sustainability of the City's aging water and wastewater system, the Board of Estimates approved a multi-year rate adjustment on January 22, 2025. The new rates are scheduled to take effect on February 1, 2025, July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2026.

This rate adjustment will fund essential capital investments required to meet federal and state regulatory standards, address rising inflation-related costs, and ensure the continued delivery of vital water and wastewater services.

Water and sewer rates and some fees are based upon water meter size at the property. Consumption is charged in CCF (100 Cubic Feet = 748 Gallons). Rate and fees are applied until a property is formally “abandoned”. Abandonment means that the property owner has officially notified DPW to remove the meter at the property, place the account in an inactive status, and all account balances and abandonment fees have been paid.
