Progress on Light Street Multiple Mains Being Replaced

Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx today announced on-going
progress with the water main replacement work on Light St. between
Baltimore St. and Lombard St.

On Monday, July 16 a 20-inch water main broke at this location,
resulting in undermining of the roadway and temporary water service
interruptions for some customers in the immediate area. Because of the
age of the main, 123 years old, it was decided that a proactive and
fiscally responsible multi-block replacement would be done rather than
one section of main repair. In addition a 98 year old parallel 10-inch
main would also be replaced while the street was already opened...
