Water Main Break Closes South Newkirk Street

The Department of Public Works tonight announced that a large water main ruptured in the 1800 block of South Newkirk Street at Holabird Avenue. The first report came in at 7:30 P.M. Crews are on the scene.
 
The water main break has left a large hole in the street, requiring South Newkirk Street to be closed in both directions between Boston Street and Keith Avenue. Detours are being posted. 
  
There are no residential water outages reported. One commercial customer is without water at this time.
