Friday Jul 11th, 2014
BALTIMORE. MD (July 11, 2014) – Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., today announced that the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold the second Liberty Reservoir Day on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Liberty Dam, Liberty Dam Rd., 21104. The event will celebrate and educate attendees about Liberty Dam and Reservoir, one of Baltimore's three raw drinking-water reservoirs. Live entertainment, face-painting, emergency vehicle displays and a food truck will be on site. Attendees will also receive American flags to celebrate both our “liberty” and “Liberty”.
Attendees of all ages can visit the Dam’s observation deck which will be open only for this special day. Learn about Baltimore's drinking water system, resource issues and conservation efforts. Rescued native wildlife will be on display along with experts who will tell you all about them. Children will be able to climb aboard the big trucks and pretend to be the drivers.
The event will also recognize the people and, yes, animals, who protect the reservoirs and reservoir visitors. Attendees will see demonstrations from the Chesapeake Search Dogs, fire companies, local police officials and environmental organizations.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about all that goes into providing the best drinking water possible to our metropolitan region,” says DPW Director Chow. “This is also a fun event, especially for kids.”
The event and parking are free.
