Expect minor delays around Druid Lake pedestrian path next week
Friday Nov 14th, 2014
November 14, 2014 (BALTIMORE, MD) - Pedestrians and cyclists should expect minor disruptions around the pedestrian path on the west side of Druid Lake Reservoir on Monday, November 17, and again on Wednesday, November 19. Contractors and their equipment will be at the lake to inspect a 72-inch water pipe within the lake.
This work is part of the engineering phase of a project to put underground water tanks in the western end of the lake, which is an open reservoir for finished drinking water.
This work will require the use of a crane to position a boat in the reservoir, allowing divers access to the pipe. The crane operation may impede travel on the pedestrian path for several minutes due to safety reasons. The crane will be removed once the boat placement is done. Work will be done over a 3-day period, at the end of which the crane will be brought back and used to remove the boat.
Crews will disinfect the boat and equipment prior to coming to the lake. There will be no impact to the public, or to the water in the lake.
