BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., today announced that on Monday, March 16, 2015, construction will begin on a new water main on East Cold Spring Lane. The new 12 inch diameter main will replace an older water main which runs between Grindon Avenue and Hillen Road.

“This project is part of the department’s accelerated water main replacement and rehabilitation program”, said Director Chow. “This water main has outlived its usefulness, and has had repeated, disruptive breaks over the last ten years.”

Traffic: There will be no lane closures during rush hours: 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. and 3 a.m. - 6 pm. Most of the work between Hillen Road and Overland Avenue will be completed at night between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.   One lane of traffic on East Cold Spring Lane, between Hillen Road and Grindon Avenue, will be closed at times during work hours.

Temporary water line connections will be installed along the work area. Drivers and residents are urged to be cognizant of these when driving and walking.

The $2.9 million project is being performed by Monumental Paving and Excavating. Work is expected to be completed in late summer.
