Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudy S. Chow, P.E., announced today that the initial distribution of Municipal Trash Cans is complete and that the program has now transitioned into providing maintenance for the 172,000 trash cans that were distributed throughout the City over the past five months.

All 311 requests submitted prior to August 1, 2016 for non-delivered, stolen or 35-gallon exchanges will continue to be investigated and addressed as appropriate. Deliveries of these cans will continue through September 1st

There is no guarantee that any further requests by residents claiming they were missed during the initial distribution phase of the program can be fulfilled.

No further requests for exchanging 35-gallon Municipal Trash Cans will be accepted.

Maintenance of the Municipal Trash Can Program will consist of managing requests for damaged or stolen cans. All future requests for stolen or damaged Municipal Trash Cans should be reported to 311.

Requests for damaged cans will be investigated and the can will either be repaired or replaced. Stolen cans will be investigated and a verification form will have to be completed and returned by the requesting resident.
