DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed Memorial Day Holiday, Monday, May 26, 2025

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 26, 2025. As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED on that day.

The Memorial Day closure will NOT impact weekly trash and recycling collections, as Monday is not a regularly scheduled curbside collection day. Mechanical street sweeping will be suspended on the holiday.

DPW facilities closed on Memorial Day to residents and haulers include:

  • Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road
  • Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road
  • Northwest Residential Recycling Drop-off Center, 2840 Sisson Street
  • Eastern Residential Recycling Drop-off Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane

The Reedbird Recycling Drop-off Center at 701 Reedbird Ave. has been temporarily closed to the public since May 17, 2025, to allow DPW to begin a facility modernization project at the site.

Extended Summer Hours Begin After the Holiday

Beginning Tuesday, May 27, 2025, DPW Residential Recycling Drop-off Centers will operate with extended summer hours: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. These extended hours will continue through Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025.

Please note:

  • The Northwest Transfer Station will remain open from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
  • The Quarantine Road Landfill’s Residential Recycling Drop-off Center will remain open from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

311 Call Center Remains Open

The City’s 311 call center will be OPEN on Memorial Day and all other City-observed holidays. Residents can submit service requests daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year.

DPW reminds residents to report water or sewer emergencies—such as water main breaks—by calling 311. Baltimore County residents can report emergencies by calling (443) 263-2220. Service requests can also be submitted online or through the Balt311 mobile app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

As a City-observed holiday, DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED in observance of the holiday.  There will be NO trash or recycling collections on the Juneteenth holiday. The make-up collection day will be Saturday, June 21.

DPW Marks Major Milestone for Druid Hill Tank Project: Walking Loop Reopens as the Department’s Work at the Park Nears Completion

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) has reopened the walking loop around Druid Lake, signaling the near completion of a historic infrastructure project to enclose and protect one of the City’s major drinking water facilities. The reopening of the loop this spring invites residents back to enjoy one of Baltimore’s most scenic and treasured destinations—the iconic Druid Hill Park, often referred to as the City’s version of Central Park.
