DPW is Back Outside! Dam Jam 2022 is Here!
Dam Jam: Saturday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Lake Montebello

It’s official, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is back outside! Dam Jam is coming back! On Saturday, Aug. 13, please join DPW at the beautiful Lake Montebello to celebrate and learn about the Baltimore region’s drinking water system at Dam Jam 2022!  

“The Baltimore City Department of Public Works is excited to welcome the return of Dam Jam 2022, which was interrupted during the height of the pandemic,” said DPW Director Jason W. Mitchell. “This year’s Dam Jam will return bigger and better than ever and filled with opportunities to learn about our regional water system and experience a fun-filled day with activities for the entire family.”

The Dam Jam celebration will be Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at beautiful Lake Montebello. This year’s event will take place at 3601 Hillen Road, Baltimore, Md. (across from Merganthaler (“Mervo”) High School. 

At this year’s Dam Jam, residents can take a tour of the historic Montebello Water Filtration Plant for an up-close look at how we get your drinking water ready for your tap. Tour Schedule: 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm. Starting at 11 a.m., shuttles will be leaving hourly from the event site to take festival attendees to tour the water filtration plant.

In addition to the organized tours of the water filtration plant, Dam Jam features visual and craft artisans, live music, plus more. Top-notch entertainment will be provided by Nex Lev’L Jazz Band, Panama Band, and Baltimore’s very own Comedian Big Fred.

Admission is FREE, and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Dam Jam is a fun-filled family day that includes activities, DPW exhibits, food trucks, and vendors.

DPW Offices and Sanitation Yards Closed for Independence Day

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Friday, July 4, 2025, is Independence Day, a City holiday. As a result, all DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED in observance of the holiday. There will be no trash or recycling collections on Friday, July 4. Collections will resume on the makeup day, Saturday, July 5, 2025. Additionally, there will be no street sweeping due to the holiday closure.
