Department of Public Works Cancels Routine Trash and Recycling for Tuesday, February 2 Limited Openings for Drop-Off Centers

Today, Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark announced that the Department will cancel routine trash and recycling collections for Tuesday, February 2, 2021, due to the inclement weather and icy conditions of many alleys throughout Baltimore City as a result of Winter Storm Orlena. Tuesday’s collections will be made up on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

“Due to the inclement weather and unique infrastructure of our city, we have decided to cancel trash and recycling collections for February 2,” said Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark. “Our top priority must always be the safety of our workers and with more severe weather and temperatures expected overnight we want to do our part and stay off the roads to help City crews get streets cleared so residents can get moving safely again.”

 Director Garbark also announced limited openings of DPW’s Convenience Drop-Off Centers on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.

Sisson Citizens’ Drop-Off Center (located at 2840 Sisson Street)

Reedbird Citizens’ Convenience Drop-Off Center (located at 701 Reedbird Avenue)

Bowley’s Citizens’ Convenience Drop-Off Center (located at 6101 Bowley’s Lane)

Open to the Public 

The Northwest Transfer Station (located at 5030 Reisterstown Road)

Quarantine Road Landfill (located at 6100 Quarantine Road)

DPW Offices and Sanitation Yards Closed for Independence Day

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Friday, July 4, 2025, is Independence Day, a City holiday. As a result, all DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED in observance of the holiday. There will be no trash or recycling collections on Friday, July 4. Collections will resume on the makeup day, Saturday, July 5, 2025. Additionally, there will be no street sweeping due to the holiday closure.
