Help to make the winter season warmer for Baltimore’s children in need this holiday season. The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) invites residents and commuters to support the 2017 Mitten Tree campaign by donating mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves.

On Thursday, Dec. 7, the City’s 44th annual Mitten Tree Campaign launches with a holiday-themed celebration in the lobby of the Abel Wolman Municipal Building, 200 Holliday Street. The Mitten Tree Ceremony will start at 11:30 a.m. This year’s ceremony will feature musical performances by the students from Abbottston Elementary School and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club - Franklin Square.

Prior to the ceremony’s start, please be sure to arrive early to enjoy musical selections from the Dunbar High School Jazz Band and the MCVETS Message of Hope Choir starting at 11 a.m.

Citizens and employees of Baltimore City are encouraged to leave donations of mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves in the collection bin in the lobby of the Abel Wolman Municipal Building.

Mitten Tree donations will be accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 20, and distributed by the Salvation Army’s Franklin Square Boys and Girls Club located at 215 N. Calhoun Street in West Baltimore.
