DPW Releases 2015 Water Quality Report

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to announce the release of its Annual Water Quality Report for 2015. DPW tests for over 90 possible drinking water contaminants.  The report shows that the water DPW provides to its customers meets or exceeds all regulatory standards.

DPW Director Rudy S. Chow, P.E., said, “Baltimore is fortunate in that we have excellent source waters and that our water mains that are not made of lead. We carefully treat our water in a manner to both inhibit corrosion and contamination. We also continuously monitor our water quality.  These are the reasons why Baltimore ranks among the best localities in the nation for water taste and purity.” 

DPW employs dedicated professionals who work around-the-clock to ensure that the water provided to households and commercial customers is safe. The City performs 150,000 water quality tests annually and produces an average of 205 million gallons of drinking water daily.   The 2015 Annual Water Quality report is now available online at http://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/. The Annual Water Quality Report will be included with water bills that are going out now.

DPW Offices and Sanitation Yards Closed for Independence Day

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Friday, July 4, 2025, is Independence Day, a City holiday. As a result, all DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED in observance of the holiday. There will be no trash or recycling collections on Friday, July 4. Collections will resume on the makeup day, Saturday, July 5, 2025. Additionally, there will be no street sweeping due to the holiday closure.
