BALTIMORE - Baltimore City Department of Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., alerts citizens the there has been an incident where people posing as “Water Department” employees staged a home invasion last night in N.E. Baltimore.
These incidents generally occur when individuals arrive at a home and state that they need to get inside to check the water. They may even wear clothing which is like a uniform in appearance. Department of Public Works employees will not come to your home and ask to come inside unless you have called us for a specific reason, e.g. an emergency flooding issue related to the public water line. Our employees will also be in official uniform and have a City of Baltimore photo identification.
If someone does approach a citizen and ask to enter, 911 should be called immediately. Do not become a victim by allowing a stranger into your home.
