BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., reminds everyone that Independence Day will be observed by Baltimore City on  Friday, July 3 as a City Holiday. Department of Public Works offices and yards WILL BE CLOSED that day and July 4. 

  • Trash and recycling WILL BE COLLECTED on July 3. Bulk collections are not scheduled for that date.
  • Citizen drop-off centers WILL BE CLOSED on both July 3 and 4 (all yards, including Quarantine Road Landfill, the Northwest Transfer Station, and the Eastern, Western and Northwest Collections Facilities).
  • Mechanical street sweeping WILL NOT TAKE PLACE on July 3.
  • Household Hazardous Waste drop-off WILL NOT OCCUR on July 3 or 4. The next drop-off will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 7 and 8, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Northwest Citizen Convenience Center, 2840 Sisson Street.  
  • Parking meters WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT on July 4 only.

DPW Offices and Sanitation Yards Closed for Independence Day

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Friday, July 4, 2025, is Independence Day, a City holiday. As a result, all DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED in observance of the holiday. There will be no trash or recycling collections on Friday, July 4. Collections will resume on the makeup day, Saturday, July 5, 2025. Additionally, there will be no street sweeping due to the holiday closure.
