Sept. 15, 2014 (BALTIMORE, MD) — Is clearing out those old-but-sensitive documents still on the to-do list? Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., urges Baltimore City residents and businesses to participate in the Saturday, Sept. 20, Free Community Shred Day.
DPW’s Bureau of Solid Waste, Office of Recycling, will provide free document shredding this Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event will be held at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute’s parking lot, 1400 W. Cold Spring Lane, between Falls Road and the Jones Falls Expressway.

This is an opportunity for Baltimore City residents and businesses to safely dispose of sensitive paper documents quickly, easily and securely. Cancelled checks, medical records, credit card information, utility bills, old tax returns and pay stubs are among the many items that should be destroyed by shredding. (Even those embarrassing photos that you don’t want anyone to see can be safely, securely shredded!)

Attendees must bring a driver’s license or other proof of Baltimore City residency, and are allowed to bring up to two trash bags of documents. A representative from Cintas Document Management will be on hand to ensure that residents’ sensitive materials are shredded completely.
