May 22, 2014 (Baltimore, MD) — Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., reminds everyone that Big Truck Day is back for another year! This FREE event will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Baltimore Museum of Industry, 1415 Key Highway. Big trucks, big vehicles, giveaways, fun games, and more, are the highlight of this annual event for kids, both big and small. Limited free parking is available.

“Big Truck Day has become a Baltimore tradition as a major family fun event,” said Mr. Chow. “This event is part of Baltimore’s celebration of National Public Works Week (May 18-24), and it is fitting that we display the vehicles that provide public services to Baltimore area residents.”

Big Truck Day gives attendees the opportunity to learn, see, touch, sit in, sound the sirens and honk the horns on some of the biggest vehicles in the City government’s fleet from the Departments of Public Works, General Services, Fire, Police and Transportation. Vehicles on display will include “Big Bertha” the City’s largest Tow Truck along with Fire Engines and Trucks, Police Cars and Motorcycles, Load-packers, Bucket Trucks, Rescue Vehicles and a BIG BIG BIGFireboat – that will perform a ginormous water display.

In addition to the trucks, youngsters will have the opportunity to have their faces painted and to receive free balloon animals. The popular giant Legos will also be back. Food trucks will be on site so that visitors may purchase refreshments. Recycling bins will be available for purchase at Big Truck Day.

For Big Truck Day only, the Baltimore Museum of Industry will offer $2 admission for adults and free admission for children 12 and under. There is NO CHARGE to attend Big Truck Day. While parking is available, attendees are encouraged to take the free Charm City Circulator to the event. Overflow parking will be available at the nearby Domino Sugar facility.

Big Truck Day is a rain or shine event. For additional information, contact DPW at 410-545-6541 or go to publicworks.baltimorecity.gov.
