(Baltimore, MD) March 28, 2013 –  Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx reminds residents that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s 2013 Spring Cleanup is on Saturday, April 20, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 2013 theme “Spring into Action” encourages Baltimore residents to make this year’s cleanup even more successful than before!

Baltimore residents are encouraged to pick a location that needs a special cleanup and call 311 to register. Participating communities are asked to bag and stack debris at a designated collection location so that it can be picked up on Monday, April 22. Participants should provide the debris pickup location when they register at 311. Free garbage bags are available to registered communities at the following DPW locations: 111 Kane Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 (April 15 to 19, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and 2840 Sisson Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 (April 17 to 19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

For communities who need additional tools for their cleanup, the Baltimore Community ToolBank is a new nonprofit organization that loans tools and equipment to community groups and gardens, neighborhood associations, and other charitable organizations for just three cents on the dollar per week. They have everything your group might need—shovels, rakes, trash cans, buckets and much more. Whether you are joining the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup or working to create a better Baltimore year-round, your group can borrow $1,000 worth of tools for just $30. Membership is free and they are reserving tools now for spring projects, so make sure to get tools lined up for your upcoming projects.
