Music, Education, Artists, Wildlife and More at Dam Jam 2014

September 12, 2014 (BALTIMORE, MD) —Baltimore City Department of Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., reminds everyone that the the fourth annual Dam Jam, a celebration of the region’s shared drinking water, is Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event takes place at the Willow Grove Nature Center at Cromwell Valley Park in Towson, 2175 Cromwell Bridge Road, and at the nearby Loch Raven Dam on Loch Raven Drive.

 

Dam Jam features visual artists and craft artisans, live music, native wildlife presentations, organized hikes, giveaways and more. Admission is FREE, and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and experience the entire day's events. Food vendors will also be on site.

 

“This is an opportunity for everyone in the region to learn about the importance of our drinking water system, while also enjoying the beauty of Loch Raven Reservoir and Cromwell Valley Park,” says Director Chow.

 

Top notch musical entertainment will be provided by Ultra Faux in the morning, doing Original Gypsy Jazz. They are a fixture in the best clubs in the Baltimore-Annapolis-Columbia area, and have performed this summer in New York City and Asheville, NC. The afternoon musical treat is Nelly’s Echo, seen nationally on NBC’s The Voice. In addition to being a local musical force on the regional circuit, Nelly’s Echo has performed at over 150 colleges throughout the country during the past year and has performed for U.S. Armed Forces overseas. Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Khalil Zaied reminds residents that Friday, July 4, 2025, is Independence Day, a City holiday. As a result, all DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED in observance of the holiday. There will be no trash or recycling collections on Friday, July 4. Collections will resume on the makeup day, Saturday, July 5, 2025. Additionally, there will be no street sweeping due to the holiday closure.
